NEW Hauling Regulations in BC!
Many people are already aware, but the laws for hauling over size and/or over weight trailers in BC have changed. You now need a Heavy Trailer Endorsement on your licence, which is completed by taking a road-test. This endorsement (Code 20) allows you to tow a trailer or towed vehicle exceeding 4,600 kgs when neither the truck or the trailer have an air brakes. Most horse trailers loaded with horses will exceed this weight restriction. The poster (on the right) here is not for BC, but many of the same concepts apply. Visit the ICBC website for more details. Private driving schools offer courses to be able to get this endorsement as well.
It is best to get educated about the new laws before show season hits and you will be hauling you horses to shows!
